It’s Time for City Council to Listen to Residents

I’ve been a Marco Island resident for many years, and I’ve watched this island change dramatically. I’ve paid attention, asked questions, and thought carefully about who I want representing us on City Council. We have a good selection of candidates, so I put a lot of thought into my choices. Ultimately, my votes are Dennis Bartolucci, Rick Woodworth, and Teri Sommerfeld.
Dennis brings decades of financial and business experience. That matters when we’re talking about taxpayer dollars, infrastructure, and major financial decisions.
Rick has been deeply involved in our waterways and fiscal oversight, with a consistent focus on clean water, responsible growth, infrastructure and accountability.
Teri brings decades of executive leadership experience managing complex operations, budgets, and regulatory requirements. She has also emphasized transparency, fiscal responsibility, infrastructure, and quality of life.
I’m not anti-business, anti-tourism, or anti-development. I’m against growth without adequate infrastructure, thoughtful planning, and accountability.
I want Council members willing to ask the hard questions: Does this make sense for Marco? What will it cost taxpayers? What are the long-term consequences? And are residents actually being heard?
We’ve all watched residents raise legitimate concerns about traffic, density, infrastructure, waterways, parking, noise, spending, and quality of life—only to be told, “We’ve heard you.” Hearing residents and listening to residents are two very different things.
That’s why Bartolucci, Woodworth, and Sommerfeld have my vote.
